Compounding Defects

Without a solid foundation, you’ll have trouble building anything of value.
— Erika Oppenheimer

A foundation is the most critical part of a home. If a defect occurs in the foundation, the effects of it will compound the higher and higher you build.

The same is true in our lives. The higher we go, the more our defects will show. They won’t go away if we ignore them or pretend they don't exist.

From time to time, we need to go back and work on our foundation. Blindly moving forward won’t always produce the progress we’re looking for. Going back, sometimes, is the fastest way to get where we’re going.
